Emerging technologies are technologies that are perceived as capable of changing the status quo. These technologies are generally new but include older technologies as well. Emerging
technologies are characterized by radical novelty, relatively fast growth, coherence and prominent impact. Convergence brings previously separate technologies such as voice (and
telephony features), data (and productivity applications) and video together so that they share resources and interact with each other, creating new efficiencies.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices that provide unique identifiers. An IoT device can transfer data over a network without any human-to-computer or human-human interaction. With about 12 billion IoT devices in use globally, it is predicted that by 2020, IOT devices will outnumber people 25 times!
